UNES, a network of more than thirty organizations, works to protect and conserve the fragile environment of El Salvador while accompanying women and men in their struggle to live more sustainably. By integrating the activities of our members, UNES extends the impact of initiatives throughout the country and region.

The country of El Salvador has been controlled for most of its history by a small, ruling elite and conflict has arisen time and again over distribution of power and wealth. UNES works not only protect the environment but to empower poor communities to resist measures that otherwise would dismantle their way of life. UNES stands on the side of the disempowered in the face of criticism and repression.

Now, more than ever, solidarity support is needed to protect those who are protecting the environment in El Salvador.

It will take both individual and government commitment to change the course of environmental destruction in El Salvador. The projects of UNES not only support people and their communities in establishing environmentally sound practices, but also address policies issues at the national level.
